The All England Club has confirmed that the iconic queue will not be operational at the Championships this year. In order to secure seats for the show courts, fans would pitch tents overnight to queue up for tickets. The organizers have now decided due to the ongoing pandemic tickets will be distributed differently with no resale of tickets allowed.
“These remain challenging and uncertain times and our thoughts continue to be with all those affected by the pandemic.” All England Club chairman Ian Hewitt said. “Although the promise of a return to a more normal existence is on the horizon, we are not there yet.”
The organizers have decided to cater to the reduced number of fans permitted at the club. They have announced that there will be as many tickets available as per the regulations as per June and July. All fans who were selected by the public ballot in 2020 for the Championships which were cancelled will be allowed to buy tickets for the Championships this year.
“Although the promise of a return to a more normal existence is on the horizon, we are not there yet,” he added. “As such, we have taken some key decisions in order to provide us with some certainty in our planning and yet also to retain flexibility where we need it the most.”
