Tennis News: Liam Broady of the United Kingdom wins his first ATP Challenger title at the eighth try, while Kwon Soon-woo of South Korea and Hubert Hurkacz of Poland win on the ATP Tour.
Liam Broady of the United Kingdom finally broke through to win his first ATP Challenger title on Sunday after appearing in eight finals over the previous seven years.
The world No. 126 did not drop a set all week at the inaugural FlowBank Challenger, winning 7-5 6-3 over home favourite Marc-Andrea Huesler.
“I persisted, and now I’ve completed it. For a long time, this has been my personal vengeance “Broady stated.
He is the second-oldest first-time winner on the ATP Challenger Tour this year, at 27 years old, and the first British champion since 2019.

After defeating Australian James Duckworth 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 in the Astana Open final, Kwon Soon-woo, 23, became the first South Korean to win on the ATP Tour since Lee Hyung-taik in 2003.
The world No. 57 went on to win his maiden ATP final, ending South Korea’s 18-year drought for a tour-level trophy since Lee’s victory at the Sydney International.
First ATP title for Soonwoo Kwon who defeated Duckworth 7-6(6), 6-3 at the #AstanaOpen.
Making him the 9th player to win their first ATP singles title in 2021.

“Winning this tournament would benefit a lot of players in South Korea and a lot of guys who are striving to get out there,” said Kwon, who upset three seeds on his way to the title.
“The younger boys will look up to me, and they’ll believe they can do it too.”
It’s also been a fantastic week for Duckworth, who, at the age of 29, is in the finest shape of his career after undergoing eight surgery on his elbow, foot, and shoulder.
