Tennis News: Andy Murray’s wedding ring and tennis shoes were found after they went missing in the California desert.
The three-time major champion is preparing for the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells and put his tennis shoes outside below his car overnight to dry – but they were nowhere to be found when he arrived in the morning.
And it wasn’t until his physio enquired about his wedding band that he realised he’d tied the ring to his shoes.
Murray said in an Instagram video posted late Thursday and published on Twitter by the ATP Tour: “I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your comments and for sharing the storey about the shoes and the wedding ring.
“(I) had to make a few phone calls today, as well as speak with hotel security.
“Just a little update for everyone,” he remarked as he lifted the sneakers into view.
“Believe it or not, they still stink, but the shoes are back, the wedding ring is back, and I’m back in good graces. Let’s get started.”
In an earlier post, Murray made a lighthearted request for the ring’s return in order to help him reconcile with his irritated wife.
He added that he left his shoes to dry beneath his car because “I don’t have a balcony in my room and I didn’t want to leave them in my room since it would stink up the room.”
Murray married his long-term fiancée Kim Sears in Dunblane Cathedral in 2015, and he’s been wearing his wedding ring linked to one of his laces ever since.
On Friday, he will face France’s Adrian Mannarino in the first round in Indian Wells.
