Team Europe has now won the Laver Cup in all four editions β€” in Prague, Chicago, Geneva, and now Boston. The teams will compete at London’s O2 Arena next year “I’m a happy captain. I’m proud of my team and what you accomplished. It’s fantastic to spend a week with you all together “Captain Bjorn Borg stated

Team Europe’s perfect record in the Laver Cup was maintained with a thrashing victory over Team World in Boston.

With an 11-1 lead overnight in the Ryder Cup-style event, Europe needed just one win from the four planned matches on Sunday to win four straight titles.

And the doubles combo of Germany’s Alexander Zverev and Russia’s Andrey Rublev delivered with a 6-2 6-7 (4-7) 10-3 victory over Americans Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov.

The previous three rounds had gone down to the wire despite the discrepancy in ranks between the two sides, but Europe won with plenty of time to spare this time.

“At the end of the day, the score says 14-1, but a lot of the time it could have gone other way,” Zverev said in an on-court interview.

“Throughout the week, we (did) a lot of hard effort to get this triumph. This team’s members have been just fantastic. I believe a lot of us become closer, and to be honest, I can’t wait for London next year.”

Russian Rublev, who won a mixed doubles gold medal with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova at the Tokyo Olympics, said the Laver Cup victory was a significant experience for him.

“This year, I experienced two extremely emotional experiences. The first was the Olympic gold medal, and the second is this week “Rublev stated. “It’s something that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

Australian Nick Kyrgios, who lost his singles and doubles matches for Team World, stated that this was his final Laver Cup.

“I’m not sure I’ll be here again, so I took it all in this week,” Kyrgios said. “I’ll be cheering for Team World from my couch at the next Laver Cup.”
