Italian Open: Iga Swiatek, 20, has been unbeatable since taking over as world No. 1 from Ashleigh Barty, with her last defeat coming in Dubai in February; Ons Jabeur was on an 11-match winning streak after winning her largest title in Madrid last week.

Iga Swiatek won her fifth victory in a row by defeating Ons Jabeur and successfully defending her Italian Open title.

Since taking over as world No. 1 from Ashleigh Barty, the 20-year-old Pole has been unbeatable, with her only loss coming in Dubai in February.

Swiatek did not drop a set in Rome, winning 6-2 6-2 over ninth seed Jabeur for her 28th straight victory ahead of the French Open, where she will be a heavy favourite to win her second Grand Slam championship.

Jabeur was on an 11-match winning streak after winning her first major title in Madrid last week, but she had a much more difficult road to the final at the Foro Italico.

Swiatek, who had lost her last two meetings with Jabeur, established her dominance early on and appeared to be in complete command at a set and 4-0 up.

Jabeur attempted a comeback by winning two consecutive games, but Swiatek held in the seventh game and won her first match point shortly after.
