In their 9-0 drubbing of Southampton on Tuesday night, former Manchester United striker Michael Owen struck out at Mike Dean’s decision.
Dean gave the Red Devils a penalty.
The seventh goal of United came in controversial fashion as Anthony Martial was adjudged by Jan Bednarek.
The latter was subsequently sent off, to have been fouled in the area.
And Owen cannot believe that the ensuing penalty was awarded, converted by Bruno Fernandes.
Owen tweeted: “That absolutely sums things up. The best thing is it hardly matters. But if that’s a pen then the game has officially gone. The biggest example of a dive I’ve seen in ages. Shambles.”
