Antonio Cassano: Cristiano Ronaldo Struggles to Match Andrea Pirlo’s Ideas

After Juventus’ first leg of the Champions League 1/8 final against Porto (1-2), former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has criticized forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I’ve always said – even with him being a phenomenon and scoring a billion goals, Ronaldo struggles to match Pirlo’s ideas. He has a goal a match, that’s true, but he has a hard time with Pirlo’s ideas,” Cassano told Bobo TV.

“He’s always been a bit selfish, he doesn’t care if others score. Ronaldo is the kind of player who lives for goals. He doesn’t live for football, for a great match, he lives for goals. The situation is getting worse at the moment.

“Everyone is getting older and Ronaldo is struggling. Juventus are trying to change their ideas and play different football because of Ronaldo’s qualities.”
