Snake at Guwahati Stadium Stops 2nd Ind vs SA T20I Match

2nd Ind vs SA: The second Twenty20 International between India and South Africa at the Barsapara Stadium was called off when a snake entered the ground in one of the strangest happenings on a cricket pitch in recent memory. It’s true what you just read! Players discovered a snake on the field after India’s sixth over, at which point play was suspended. Wayne Parnell was the one to see the snake, and as the action came to a halt, KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock were seen conversing. The snake was eventually removed from the field by the ground crew after they arrived carrying sticks and a bucket.

Several viewers found the event amusing, including former West Indies bowler Ian Bishop.

He tweeted, along with an emoji of a snake, “I have so many questions.”

The interruption was only a tiny hiccup in what ultimately became an exciting run-fest.

India ultimately prevailed by 16 runs to take a commanding 2-0 series lead, but not before South Africa gave them a serious fright.

Before Rohit Sharma fell for 43, KL Rahul and India’s captain put together a 96-run opening stand (37).

Rahul was in a destructive mode, hitting 57 off 28 deliveries before he was out in the 12th over, while Rohit was having some difficulty, especially after getting hit on the finger.

The genuine blockbuster hits, though, were delivered by Suryakumar Yadav, who scored 61 runs off only 22 deliveries before being dismissed as a result of a mix-up with Virat Kohli. Rahul’s impressive knock turned out to be merely the trailer.

While Dinesh Karthik helped put the finishing touches on proceedings by scoring 17 off 7 deliveries as India registered 237/3, Kohli himself went on to end undefeated on 49 off 28 deliveries.

Deepak Chahar began with a maiden and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets off the following over, giving South Africa a dismal start.

With his 19-ball 33, Aiden Markram gave the Proteas some momentum, but when Axar Patel bowled him, it appeared as though India would win the match.

However, David Miller entered the game and instantly calmed himself before opening fire, and a stumbling Quinton de Kock also rediscovered his touch to bring South Africa dangerously near to a remarkable chase.

The total proved to be too high, though, and India managed to contain them to 221/3, despite Miller scoring a brilliant century off just 46 balls and de Kock ending with 69 off 48.
