Borussia have come up with a plan to keep Jaden Sancho in Dortmund for another year, Bild reported.
That’s bad news for Manchester United and Chelsea, who intend to wage a big battle for his signature this summer. According to The Sun, United reportedly agreed with the player on all the details of his contract, including bonuses and a redemption clause, but got stuck in negotiations with Borussia.
Now, the Yellow and Black are ready to offer a Sancho a contract extension until the summer of 2022 with a salary of € 10 million per season, making him the second highest paid player on the team behind Marco Reus.
The German club did not want to lower the price below 140 million euros, but it was before the coronavirus crisis. Borussia knows they can’t ask for 140m euros for Sancho, so they offer him a contract extension. They reckon that English clubs could pay as much as the Germans want next summer.
That is why Borussia want to keep Sancho until 2022, so that he does not get into the situation of losing him without compensation in 2021.
The pandemic has thrown off the plans for this summer. In any case, there is no knowing if there will be a transfer at all, as Borussia offered Sancho very good conditions that he could supposedly accept.
Borussia hope that, except for a huge contract, Sancho will agree to remain as he has developed an excellent relationship with Erling Haland, with whom he excels in the field and beyond.
