Aditi Ashok, an Indian golfer who impressed in Round 2, is expected to compete in the next round on August 6 at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The 23-year-old has consistently performed well in all of her rounds and has managed to stay in second place in each of the first two rounds at the Tokyo Olympics thus far.
Aditi is competing in her second Olympic Games in 2020, and she is four strokes behind World No. 1 Nelly Korda of the United States after Round 2. The Arjuna Award-winning golfer from Bengaluru rolled five birdies. Three of them came in her final four shots. With that said, Aditi Ashok was in second place after Round 2 alongside Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Emily Kristine Pedersen of Denmark.
In terms of World No. 1, Nelly Korda was 11-under for 17 parts at one point in Round 2 and appeared to be on her way to a remarkable sub-60 score of 59 on the par-71 course. Even after such a powerful and seasoned performance, Ashok managed to stay in contention with birdies on holes 2,5,15,17, and 18.
Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, both Indian golfers, are scheduled to compete in Round 3 on August 6. With the latter, Dagar shot a 72 to tie for 53rd place on a six-over 148. Given the presence of both golfers, Aditi Ashok appears to be in the running for a significant maiden Olympic medal for India in the sport of golf.
