Managers’ reaction

Dean Smith said: “It wasn’t the most straightforward win, but I was pleased with the performance in general.

“In the first half we probably could have taken more of our chances on the final ball.

“The second half was more stop-start; we lacked a little more fluidity. That probably had to do with the number of subs that both teams were making, with games coming up in mind.

“We made a mistake which lead to a goal and unfortunately our mistakes are costing us at the minute.”

John Eustace said: “I am extremely proud, it is what we have been asking for. This is our fifth week now, we have got us to be hard to play against and we have asked for good team spirit and to make the fans proud of us.

“I think tonight’s performance was fantastic for such a young, inexperienced team. It was really good and I was really proud.”
