North Carolina short track set to open in defiance of Governor’s orders

The owner of the track is going to open it up for fans on Saturday. Media members are barred from entering unless they buy a ticket like regular fans.

Gov. Roy Cooper has barred gatherings of more than 25 people in the state of North Carolina. However the 311 Speedway in Stokes County in set to open its 2,500 seats for fans on Saturday.

The owner of the stadium, Mike Fulp posted a lengthy note on Facebook. He also spoke to journalists and said, “The reporters could be [carriers of the virus]. We don’t have people here with the corona, and we got to protect our people here. To have them come over to my facility, hell no, we can’t allow that.”

Stokes County has 65 confirmed cases of Covid-19 till now while the entire state of North Carolina has a total of 26,500 confirmed cases so far. North Carolina short track set to open in defiance of Governor's orders
