Newcastle United is in the process of signing Donny van de Beek from Ajax, according to an anonymous source.
Following his outstanding results in Ajax’s run to the Champions League semi-finals last year, the Dutchman scored eight goals and five assists this term in the Eredivise.
Donny van de Beek was believed to be close to reaching terms with Madrid, but earlier this month the player’s agent revealed that the coronavirus pandemic had left his future in doubt.
The Magpies are suspected to be on the verge of a Saudi-led takeover that would make them one of the richest clubs in the world. The prospective new owners of United are said to be big-name hires to mark their arrival at St James’ Park, with van de Beek among those targeted.
The Netherlands International has thus been announced as a priority for Real Madrid and Manchester United. However, Le 10 Sport now argues that Newcastle could also make an offer soon.
