Speaking to the media about his outstanding play on defence against Booker, Butler stated:
“Just a play in basketball. fortunate to avoid a foul and block the shot. He had already fashioned a few difficult ones, but I knew I had to reach for one of them. won the game by getting the block.
Butler praised Booker as well, saying the Phoenix guard was a fantastic player but was prepared to accept any outcome as long as he blocked the attempt. He offered this comment.
“As long as we are supporting one another and are aware of everyone’s location on the court, we can guard anyone. We are aware that he would have the ball. He takes and makes difficult shots, as we all know.”
“In this league, elite players act in that manner. He falls under that category. But I believe that as long as we contest the shot without fouling—I did foul him once—we can live with the result.”
Butler may have attributed Booker’s excellent defensive performance to luck and sheer willpower, but with six seconds left in the game, gushed over his teammate’s work. Adebayo stated to the press:
“That will be remembered in history. That block was incredible.”
