The Dutch driver, Max Verstappen clinched the 14th race win of his career.
On Sunday, the F1 2021 season provided another action-packed race as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen continued his current run of success to claim an impressive victory in the Styrian Grand Prix in Austria. The Dutch driver was at his best at his team’s home circuit, the Red Bull Ring, when he won the 14th race of his career.
In the opening race of the doubleheader in Austria, Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas finished second and third, respectively, to complete the podium.
Max and Red Bull continue to impress
The victory for Max Verstappen extended his advantage at the top of the F1 standings over incumbent champion Lewis Hamilton, who finished second. Sergio Perez’s fourth-place result also guaranteed that Red Bull maintained their advantage over Mercedes in the constructor’s standings.
Unfortunate for Gasly and Russell
Pierre Gasly and George Russell were undeniably two of the more outstanding drivers throughout qualifying on Saturday, starting from P6 and P10, respectively. On Sunday, though, things did not go quite as planned.
Despite losing out on a chance to finish within points, the 23-year-old maintained his cool and stated on the radio, “No need to apologise, we’re in this together.” We’ll go again next week and grab those points.”
Good outing for Ferrari
It was a fantastic day for Ferrari, as Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc finished sixth and seventh, slightly behind McLaren’s Lando Norris. The top ten was completed by Lance Stroll, Fernando Alonso, and Yuki Tsunoda.
