Carlos Sainz Jr. replaces Vettel at Ferrari


Ferrari announced on Thursday that it had deiced to replace its four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel with Spanish driver Carlos Sainz Jr., who will drive alongside Charles Lecrec for the 2021 and 2022 season.

The budding Spanish driver, whose father is a two-time world rally champion has been driving for McClaren since last year while he debuted with Toro Rosso back in 2015.

Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto said, “With five seasons behind him, Carlos has proven to be very talented and has shown that he has the technical ability and the right attributes to make him ideal for our family.”

Vettel’s contract with Ferrari and Sainz’s contract with McClaren expire at the end of the year. Sainz will be replaced by Australian Daniel Ricciardo. Carlos Sainz Jr. replaces Vettel at Ferrari
