Martin Braithwaite has signed for RCD Espanyol as a free agent after terminating his contract with cross town rivals FC Barcelona.
The striker has signed a three-year deal with RCDE. He had to terminate his contract with Barça earlier that ran until the end of the 2023/24 season.
The Dane moved to Barcelona from Leganes in January 2020. After Barcelona triggered Braithwaite’s release clause of €18 million.
Since then the striker has made 58 appearances for FCB, scoring ten goals along the way. He joins RCDE with 60 caps with the Danish national team.

‘The 31-year-old striker joins the club on a three-year deal, having terminated his contract with FC Barcelona. He has signed a deal at the RCDE Stadium which runs until 30th June 2025.
‘Braithwaite passed his medical at the Clínica Corachan on Thursday morning. And will join up with new coach Diego Martínez and the first team on Friday.
‘The Dane is the tenth summer signing for Espanyol, along with Joselu, Brian Oliván, Tonny Vilhena, Vinicius Souza, Benjamin Lecomte, Edu Expósito, Dani Gómez, José Carlos Lazo and Álvaro Fernandez.

Barcelona confirmed the same, stating: ‘FC Barcelona and Martin Braithwaite have reached an agreement to terminate the contact binding the player to the club until the end of the 2023/24 season.
‘FC Barcelona publicly expresses its gratitude to Braithwaite for his commitment and dedication and wishes him the best of fortune and every success in the future.’
