According to a story in, Manchester City has told Barcelona of their interest in signing the versatile Sergi Roberto.
He has made 274 first-team appearances for the Blaugrana and, despite being naturally a central midfielder, has frequently been deployed ahead of Semedo in recent seasons at the right-back.
28-year-old Roberto signed a breakthrough deal to play at Camp Nou, where he spent his entire professional career so far. With six La Liga championships, two Champions League titles and five Copa del Rey victories, Sergi Roberto has played a significant role in the squad.
Though his contract doesn’t run out until 2022, with his deal expected to reach a crucial point later this year.
City transfer chief Txiki Begiristain is said to have led City’s interest in him with Pep Guardiola’s blessing. The name came up between the two clubs in informal trade talks between the two clubs.
Fullbacks Nelson Semedo and Joao Cancelo said they could be involved in this summer’s swap deal. However, the report clarifies, any transfer involving Roberto would need to be a straight-forward money deal.
