Jake Paul: For his next bout, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and a move to MMA appear to be viable options

For the next stage of his fighting career, Jake Paul is pondering becoming a “genuine boxer” like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr or switching to MMA.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has won all five of his fights, most recently knocking out Tyron Woodley with a sensational knockout.

Former UFC fighters Ben Askren and Woodley, as well as fellow social media influencer AnEsonGib, ex-basketball player Nate Robinson, and former social media influencer AnEsonGib (twice).

He was set to fight Tommy Fury until the WBC heavyweight champion’s younger brother withdrew.

Jake Paul has his sights set on Chavez Jr., the son of a boxing icon and a 61-fight veteran who once held a world title.

“That fight is one of my favourites because it silences the naysayers,” Jake fPaul told The Volume Sports.

“He was a former world champion, and I am confident that I can defeat him. That task thrills me, and I’m ready to take it on.

“‘Fight a genuine boxer,’ they said when I knocked out Woodley, and I said, ‘You guys, I tried, and he [Tommy Fury] dropped out of the fight two weeks ago.’

“I want to fight a professional boxer, and I will,” he says. “Just be patient.”

Mexico’s Chavez Jr has fallen short of his father’s incredible reputation, losing to UFC legend Anderson Silva in a boxing match earlier this year.

In the midst of his current feud with UFC president Dana White and the sport’s biggest names, Paul also teased footage of himself training in mixed martial arts.

Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Jorge Masvidal, and Kamaru Usman are among the top competitors in the UFC, and he has previously warned: “I’m going to shame them as well. That I can assure you.

“People ought to be terrified. There is no one who is safe. Everyone is on the edge of their seats.

“This is enormous after only two years as a professional. As I progress, I’d like to face more difficult opponents.

“Maybe I’ll go for the world title when the time comes.

“Nobody in the history of boxing has done what I’ve done at this age – four major contests in 13 months.”

Masvidal has retaliated against Paul: “You simply cannot afford me. What were the names you mentioned? You simply cannot afford it.

“I know how much you have to pay.

“You speak a big game about $50 million here and $50 million there. Floyd Mayweather would have taken a fight with you if that was the case. He hasn’t, however.

“Come on over to UFC,” says the narrator. Make a one-fight contract. In front of the entire world, I will break your jaw.

“It’s here if you want it.”

Yoel Romero, a Bellator MMA fighter, earlier told Sky Sports that he was in talks to face Paul, but the YouTuber-turned-fighter ultimately chose a different opponent.

“If you pay for a fillet mignon at a restaurant, you expect a good fillet mignon,” Romero taunted. You’ve paid for both the service and the food. You don’t want an egg if you’ve paid for a fillet mignon.
