Indian Women’s Hockey Team look to make history in Tokyo Olympics Bronze Medal match against GB

On Wednesday, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team competed in the Tokyo Olympics Semi-Final against Argentina at the Oi Hockey Stadium, but the Indian eves were defeated 2-1 by the Argentinians in their first-ever Olympic Semi-Final. However, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team still has a chance to win an Olympic medal when they face World Number 4 Great Britain in the Bronze Medal match on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 0700 hours IST.

Sjoerd Marijne, the Chief Coach of the Indian Women’s Hockey Squad, stated that the Indian team played with the proper attitude in the Semi-Final versus Argentina.

“Against Argentina, we were quite competitive. It was all about making the most of the minor opportunities, and we scored on a Penalty Corner. The loss hurts the team a lot because we were so close, but now it’s all about recuperation and looking forward to the next match. We still have a chance to win a medal. I’m pleased with the girls’ performance versus Argentina. For the first time, they competed in an Olympic Semi-Final, and it wasn’t easy. “We played in the proper spirit, and that makes me extremely happy,” Marijne added.

Rani, the captain of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team, stated that the national team will give everything it has to win its first Olympic medal.

“We performed admirably against Argentina, but it was frustrating not to qualify for the Olympic Final. We’ve done exceptionally well in this competition and are still in contention for a medal. We are optimistic about our individual performances and will give it our all to capture our first Olympic medal. On Friday, we have an opportunity to make history “Rani expressed her thoughts.

The team will try to stay in the moment and execute their plans, according to the Skipper.

“For us, it’ll be all about remaining in the moment.” We must stick to our procedures, and if we execute our plans well, we will be able to win the Bronze Medal match. We overcame Great Britain in our last meeting in February 2020, and we’ll draw a lot of confidence from it,” the Forward stated.

On Friday, August 6, 2021, at 07:00 IST / 10:30 hours JST, India will face Great Britain at the Oi Hockey Stadium in Tokyo.
