Rory Mcllroy revealed that a recent visit to Tiger Woods was a timely reminder of the importance of majors ahead of the Masters. Mcllroy arrives at Augusta looking to become only the sixth man to win all four majors. It is going to be an uphill task with his last major win coming in 2014 and has now gone 16 months without a title. His ranking has also dropped to 12th in the world. Woods is currently recuperating in Florida from a car accident and Mcllroy recently visited him.

“I went over to Tiger’s house a few weeks ago and in his family room he’s got his 15 major trophies and I said, ‘That’s really cool, where are all the others?”‘ McIlroy said. “And he was like, ‘I don’t know. My mum has some, a few are in the office, a few are wherever’.”

“That’s all he cared about [winning majors], so how is easy must that has felt for him to win all the others? He talked about these are the four weeks that matter, so the weeks that didn’t matter he racked them up at a pretty fast clip,” he added. “That’s all he cared about [winning majors], so how is easy must that has felt for him to win all the others? Woods couldn’t attend the Champions dinner hosted by Dustin Johnson after his record-breaking win in 2020. Mcllroy hopes that the 15-time major champion will be fit to tee up in the near future.
