Michelle Wie is relishing her return to professional golf after two years out at the LPGA Kia Classic in California. Wie admitted she’s feeling a little nervous about her return and compared it to coming back to school. Wie, 31 feared her golfing career was over when she missed the cut at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in 2019, shortly before finding out she was pregnant.
“I’m just fortunate enough and grateful that I have the opportunity to come back out here and play, especially with having maternity leave and all that,” said Wie. “I’m still deciding about that just because of the baby, I just don’t know with COVID about flying yet with her. So there are a lot of things to think about. But I also love the west coast swing, I love Carlsbad, I love this golf course, and I especially love next week.”
She admitted that she had major doubts about returning to Golf but said that the prospect of impressing her daughter while following in the footsteps of Tiger Woods and his son convinced her to reassess her future.
