Golf News: Last week, DeChaumbeau struggled at the Sentry Tournament of Champions, finishing in a tie for 25th place out of 38 players.

Bryson DeChambeau has withdrawn from the Sony Open in Hawaii this week due to wrist pain.

On Monday morning, DeChambeau’s agent, Brett Falkoff, told the Golf Channel that the world No. 8’s wrist had flared up in recent weeks before PGA Tour Communications confirmed DeChambeau’s withdrawal later that afternoon.

The 28-year-old was the top player in the field at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu, where the tournament begins on Thursday.

The 2020 US Open champion had a tough time in his previous tournament, ending in a tie for 25th place in the Sentry Tournament of Champions, which featured 38 players.

DeChambeau had only played once since last September’s Ryder Cup, when he was a member of the triumphant US team, at the Hero World Challenge, an unofficial PGA Tour tournament, where he placed 14th in a field of 20.

DeChambeau won the Arnold Palmer Invitational last March, his sole PGA Tour victory in 2021, and he failed to finish in the top 25 at any of the four majors.
