Golf Club: When Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka square off in the latest instalment of The Match in Las Vegas, their rivalry will be reignited.
The two major winners, who are presently ranked seventh and ninth in the world, will compete in a 12-hole match on Friday, November 26 at Wynn Golf Course, the only golf course on the Las Vegas strip.
Over the past two years, the pair’s enmity has resulted in conflicts, with Koepka previously calling out DeChambeau for slow play and DeChambeau making light of Koepka’s physique.
They put their disagreements aside to propel Team USA to a record-breaking 19-9 victory at the Ryder Cup last month, even sharing an embrace in front of the media at the winner’s press conference, while Bryson DeChambeau intimated ahead of the competition that a match between the duo might happen.
“I think there might be something exciting coming up here moving forward,” DeChambeau stated prior to the last Ryder Cup, though Koepka later told the media he had “no idea” what the 2020 US Open champion was talking about.
The Match, originally contested in 2018 when Phil Mickelson defeated Tiger Woods, will be the fifth edition, with DeChambeau returning for the second time, having joined Aaron Rodgers to triumph against Mickelson and Tom Brady in the most recent iteration in July.
Koepka is competing in the contest for the first time, having previously donated $100,000 to Covid-19 relief efforts during the ‘Champions for Charity’ edition in May 2020. At Medalist Golf Club, Woods and Peyton Manning defeated Mickelson and Brady.
Since its inception in 2018, Capital One’s The Match has raised approximately $30 million in support of numerous charities and causes, with the current edition providing unparalleled access and players having open mics throughout.
