The PGA announced on Monday that Dustin Johnson has pulled out of the Valero Texas Open and Ryan Brehm being announced as his replacement. The player recently released a statement but no reason was given.
“After much careful thought over the weekend, I have decided to withdraw from the Valero Texas Open,” Johnson said. “I now plan to spend the week at home in preparation for next week’s Masters. I sincerely apologise to all the sponsors at Valero and all my friends in San Antonio, as I realise this is disappointing news. Nonetheless, I have no doubt it will be another great week for the Valero Texas Open.”
The event in San Antonio is considered as the warm-up event to the Masters, where Johnson won last year and is in possession of the iconic green jacket. Dustin Johnson was named the PGA Player of the Year for the second time in his career after another amazing season.
