Golf News: For the 2023 Ryder Cup, Nicolas Colsaerts will serve as Luke Donald’s third vice-captain.
From September 29 to October 1, 2023, Donald will captain Team Europe against the United States at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome, Italy.
Colsaerts participated in the historic European triumph during the Ryder Cup at Medinah in 2012. In the Friday fourball session, he and Lee Westwood carded eight birdies and an eagle to defeat Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker on the last green, making it one of the most memorable debuts in history.
The Belgian has three DP World Tour victories outside the Ryder Cup, most recently at the 2019 Open de France.
He battled to keep his Tour card going into the week and won by one stroke. He has participated in 436 Tour events as of this writing and is ranked 84th all-time.
, who turned 40 last week, will be welcomed by Team Europe and serve as vice-captain alongside 2018 European captain Thomas Bjorn of Denmark and Italian Edoardo Molinari.
When Luke asked, he reacted with pure joy, he said. I am always brought back to the Ryder Cup I participated in and how proud I was to represent Europe and be a part of such an incredible event.
“Naturally, Luke was on that team as well, and when we spoke, he expressed his admiration for everything the Ryder Cup has meant to me over the years.
“Although being a vice-captain has different responsibilities than being a player, my goal will still be the same in 2023 as in 2012: to contribute in any way I can to the team. You can be sure that I will carry out any requests you make of me.
We are all very different people, but that is interesting because when you put us all in the same room you will have different angles, and Luke will be able to take the best from each of us, as we already have two fantastic vice-captains in Thomas Bjrn and Edoardo Molinari.
He continued, “for a couple of months,” Colsaerts has been on his mind, and he “understands what it means to represent the European crest.”
