Jose Bordalas, head coach of Getafe, has revealed he’d love to coach in Series A, and particularly in Roma.
“It would be an incredible thing to coach Roma, it would be an honour,” Bordalas told. “It would be a dream for me because I love the city and the club has a great history.”
“I have always been fascinated by the history of ancient Rome, of the city; I also have a tattoo,” he explained. Even Bordalas’ nickname is ‘The Roman’: “I’m in love with it and that’s why my former teammates called me that, but maybe also because I was small but fought a lot.”
“I love Serie A, because I love Italy, as I love the people and it would be good to work there,” he said, while also not hiding which team would be at the top of his shortlist if he ever coached for Series A.
Meanwhile, in the last 16 of the Europa League, Getafe will take on Serie A giants Inter, a bout Bordalas is looking forward to.
“We’re happy to be where we are, it’s incredible for us,” he declared. “Inter are favourites, they have a great team, a great history and a good fan base. I’d like it if we played like usual, a two-legged tie, but we don’t know what UEFA will decide.”
“I am very happy at Getafe,” Bordalas said however. “It’s my fourth season and we’ve done a great job. As a professional, I work to receive a call from a big club, that’s my goal.”
Over the past couple of years, the 56-year-old has received a number of plaudits since taking Getafe up from the Segunda Division and leading them to a fifth-place finish in 2018/19, while this season they are on points with fourth-placed Real Sociedad entering the final 11 matches.
