Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi Hernandez, who’s now in charge of Qatar’s Al Sadd, is not willing to return just yet. He has refused to talk about picking up the head coach position while Dutchman Ronald Koeman is still in charge. Despite having all the requirement to take over the Blaugrana, Xavi won’t negotiate with Barcelona while Koeman is still coach.
Xavi Won’t Negotiate with Barcelona while Koeman Is Still Coach
After Andrea Pirlo (football news), Antonio Conte and Xavi are favourites to follow Barcelona head coach Ronald Koeman.
Marca claims the Catalan legend refuses to open talks behind the back of the acting coach considering it disrespectful.
The 41-year-old manager has great respect for the Dutchman and considers him one of Barcelona’s legends. Xavi’s current contract with Al Sadd runs until 2023.
Raymond Domenech: Whoever Goes There Will Suffer
Meanwhile, former France national team head coach Raymond Domenech has spoken out on the idea of Thierry Henry taking over Barcelona (football transfers).
Former Barça and France international striker is on the list of potential Ronald Koeman successors, while the Dutchman’s coaching post is on the line.
“Why not? He is a coach and he played there,” Domenech said, as per Diario Sport.
“He is capable of taking charge of the team. He would have the advantage of being at the club he knows, he understands their philosophy.
“But whoever goes there will suffer. Because it would be better if they had a great squad. There are good players but not very good. If they don’t get the players back, I am not sure they will be in the top five.”
