Xavi is delighted with the election outcome, and with newly-elected Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
“Laporta is a good friend. I know him very well,” Xavi told beIN SPORTS. “He is the best president I have ever had.”
He also anticipates that good times will return to Barcelona after a tough era for the Catalan giants: “Barca will return both in terms of sporting and economic results. There are problems to solve but you can do it all. I wish him well.”
Xavi has stated that he is in touch with on a regular basis, as well: “I am in contact with him and I am very happy.”
There has been recent speculation about Xavi bagging a managerial role at Camp Nou.
Xavi has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Ronald Koeman if the Dutchman is fired at the end of the season.
The 41-year-old has been in charge of Al-Sadd for the past two years and captured his fifth trophy as manager last month with a 2-0 victory over Al-Duhail in the Qatari Cup final.
