World Cup Football News – France Win 2-0 with Griezmann’s Brace
Urho Nissila forced the first save from Hugo Lloris, his looping strike forcing the Tottenham goalkeeper to tip over. Then, it was Karim Benzema who forced a save from Lukas Hradecky, this time with a left-footed effort of Benzema’s.
Hradecky, however, was no match for the Frenchmen’s efforts just four minutes later.
Griezmann curled into the bottom-right corner after an offload from Benzema. The latter was appearing in Lyon for the first time since 2011 after rejoining Real Madrid.
Later, Paul Pogba came close to adding a second goal for France. But his right-footed strike from outside the area sliced and volleyed wide on the stretch.
After the break, though, Griezmann doubled his and France’s tally in the World Cup qualifier. He rolled a delicate shot through the legs of Hradecky after being set up by Leo Dubois.
Atletico Madrid’s new loanee had a chance to complete his hat-trick, with Benzema again providing the assist.
But he could only poke over before acrobatically volleying wide with his next attempt.
