UEFA technical observer Roberto Martinez has spoken out about Kevin de Bruyne.
The Belgian head coach has praised the Manchester City midfielder, named the best player in the Champions League 1/8 final return leg against Borussia Mönchengladbach (2-0).
“A real captain’s game, a masterclass in position selection, finding free areas and exchanging positions with other attacking players. In addition, he opened the scoring by kicking with his ‘weak’ foot from behind the penalty box,” Martinez said to UEFA’s official website.
“The way he plays the false ‘nine’ should be studied in all the football academies in the world.”
