Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are at the top of a list of players that Manchester City are willing to let go. Sterling and Mahrez may transfer from City to Arsenal this summer, as Pep Guardiola plans a new era of domination.
Pep has plans of a complete rejuvenation, regardless matter the results of Saturday’s Champions League final in Porto.
Hence, the Premier League champions intend to strengthen their squad throughout the summer window.
And though both have aided City’s recent domestic and European success, Sterling and Mahrez may transfer from City to Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s starting line-up dropped Sterling towards the end of last season. And now, Sportsmail believes, City are even open to bids for the 26-year-old.
To make matters worse, Sterling is not the only key player who might leave in the coming months.
Riyad Mahrez is also among those who could be sacrificed in the coming months.
Mahrez has been outstanding in recent weeks, particularly in the Champions League semi-final against PSG. Nonetheless, City would contemplate selling him if the price was right.
Gabriel Jesus, the team’s striker, and Aymeric Laporte, the team’s centre back, are also vulnerable.
Perhaps, this news is not shocking, seeing as how Guardiola let even a City veteran like Sergio Aguero leave recently.
Meanwhile, Arsenal allegedly have their eye on both Sterling and Mahrez.
After all, Mikel Arteta, the Gunners’ manager, has worked with both during Guardiola’s tenure, as Guardiola’s assistant, at City.
However, because of Arsenal’s financial demands and the absence of European football, their capacity to sign either player is dubious.
