Ole Gunnar Solskjaer indicated that he could think of using Donny van de Beek as an alternative to the Marcus Rashford on the left of the attacking trident of Manchester United.
Solskjaer told reporters on Van de Beek: “Compared to Dan James and Marcus Rashford, of course, he is a different form of left-sided player. But coming in, finding nice pockets, making good runs, well why not.”
On the back of a 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Brighton, Solskjaer said about the player: “I think he can play lots of different positions, which is strength for a player.
“I recall myself being sometimes right-wing, left-wing, center forward, 10 and I think Donny is one of the guys who the coach would really love to see in their squad.”
“He has very, very high intelligence in footballing,” he added. “He went through the Ajax system, Dutch football is tactical. He knows football and after all the talks I’ve had with him you can see that he’s screwed his head on.”
