For Liverpool’s Champions League match against Real Madrid, Mohamed Salah will face Sergio Ramos again. And Salah played down talk for avenging Ramos.
This is the two teams’ first clash, following Liverpool’s 2018 final loss.
That was extremely eventful game in Kyiv. Sergio Ramos’ catch on Salah knocked him out of 2018 final with a shoulder injury.
The match also included Loris Karius’ errors and Gareth Bale’s spectacular overhead kick.
Now, Liverpool will meet Zinedine Zidane’s side again in the quarter-final on Tuesday.
And Salah played down talk of avenging Ramos over the incident, in an interview with Marca.
Yet he acknowledged that the events of that night had stayed with him. He has revealed that he has “extra inspiration”.
Liverpool’s leading goal scorer said: “Let’s just say that I have special motivation to win the tie and go through to the semi-finals. What’s going to happen now isn’t going to change the result of the final in Kyiv. That’s in the past.”
