Cristiano Ronaldo won yet another accolade last month after scoring three times in as many Premier League games. Even as we report the football news, the striker is now on par with another (ex-)Manchester United player, Wayne Rooney. So, after becoming September’s best Premier Leeague player, Ronaldo has matched Rooney’s record for winning Player of the Month awards.
Starting his second tenure with Manchester United strong, Cristiano Ronaldo has become Premier League Player of the Month for September.
In his first outing for Newcastle United since 2009, the Portuguese captain scored twice in a 4-1 triumph.
Ronaldo also scored, once this time, in a 2-1 Premier League victory over West Ham last month.
The brace against Newcastle and one goal against West ham made it three goals in as many games in September.
Plus, the 36-year-old’s 17 shots one target (attempts) in September were more than any other player in the Premier League.
As well as these impressive statistics, Ronaldo can also already boast about scoring twice for United in the Champions League.
Ronaldo Has Matched Rooney’s Record for Winning Player of the Month
But Ronaldo’s crowing as the Premier League Player of the Month for the fifth time on Friday has another significance.
Now, Ronaldo (football transfers) has won this particular award the same number of times as Wayne Rooney. And Rooney holds the record for the Player of the Month award for Manchester United, which Ronaldo now shares too.
