Results from Group D

Germany – Ivory Coast – 1:1

The Germans have had to face elimination in the group stage. This is because they finished third in Group D after a 1-1 draw with Ivory Coast at the Miyagi Stadium.

On the other hand, the Ivorian team made it to the playoffs as a runner-up, placing second, in group D.

Brazil – Saudi Arabia – 2:1

Elsewhere in Group D, the Brazilian national team haven’t experienced difficulties with Saudi Arabia (2-1).

Richarlison’s hat-trick against Germany, who are now out, propelled Brazil toward victory in their first group stage match. His three goals added up to a 4-2 difference in the football match score, in favour of Brazil.

And now, another two goals (brace) from Everton striker Richarlison have helped the defending champions to reach the quarter-final stage.

This is after Brazil and Ivory Coast, both moving ahead now, drew, scoreless, for their second group stage fixture.

Group B

South Korea – Honduras – 6:0

A pair of first-half penalties seven minutes apart set South Korea up for a two-goal lead at a minimum.

Won Du-jae and Hwang Ui-jo were the ones who converted their spot-kicks to secure 2-0 after just 19 minutes in.

Ui-jo then scored his second goal of the game in first-half stoppage time.

After this smashing brace, Ui-jo went on to complete a spectacular hat trick with a penalty after halftime.

Eventually, South Korea rolled to a 6-0 win over the 10-man Honduras.

Romania – New Zealand – 0:0

Romania and New Zealand played a scoreless draw in their final Group B match.

However, Danny Hay’s OlyWhites, that is, New Zealand, earned their fourth point with this draw.

This means that New Zealand has moved ahead of Honduras and Romania on the table, and into the knockout rounds.

New Zealand will now meet the winner of Group A in the quarterfinals, while South Korea fights that group’s runner-up.
