As the 2020-21 season nears an end, we have the Premier League Player of the Month for May – Joe Willock!
Premier League have named Newcastle midfielder Joe Willock as the player of the month, for the month of May.
Willock, who joined Newcastle on a season-long loan in January, has been a vital part of the Magpies’ struggles this season.
He has helped Newcastle fight to keep their Premier League membership and avid relegation.
Further, he has netted an outstanding eight goals in just 14 Premier League games.
Once in the season, he scored seven goals in seven games. This amazing feat propelled them out of the bottom three and into 12th place.
Willock, playing on loan at Newcastle from Arsenal, has also just enjoyed a four-goal run in four games.

To win the prize, Willock beat out his strongest contenders this month, Liverpool duo Alisson Becker (goalkeeper) and Sadio Mane.
The on-loan Arsenal player ranked above Christian Benteke, Gareth Bale, Nicolas Pepe, Aaron Ramsdale, and Rodrigo, as well.
Willock becomes the first Newcastle player to win the award in eight years since goalkeeper Tim Krul in November 2013.
Not only Premier League (on Twitter), but Newcastle United have also celebrated their loanee and his latest achievements.
They have announced Premier League’s crowning of Willock as the best player of this month on their official website.
After acknowledging the player’s tremendous influence behind Newcastle’s standing, they also remarked:
“His [Willock’s] award means Newcastle have collected two of the main individual monthly awards in the closing stages of the campaign, with head coach Bruce having picked up the Premier League’s Barclays manager of the month gong for April.”
Indeed, Steve Bruce, the head coach of Newcastle United, won the manager of the month award in EPL last month.
