Gary Hoffman steps down on February 1, 2022, the Premier League revealed on Thursday. And now, the official website of the league says, McCormick will take over as interim chair of the Premier League.

Gary Hoffman, who served as the English Premier League (EPL) chair since the 1st of June 2020, is stepping down next month. Hoffman resigned in November following controversy concerning the takeover of Newcastle United by a Saudi Arabia-backed consortium.
So now, in the stead of this chair, from the beginning of February, Peter McCormick will assume charge of the EPL’s affairs as their interim chair.
The 69-year-old McCormick is a lawyer who has also been interim chairman of the Football Association since November 2020. And to become the interim chair of the English league, he received the unanimous backing of all 20 top-flight clubs.
Now, chief executive Richard Masters has offered up his words of welcome to the interim chair.
“(Peter) is well known to us all and a trusted pair of hands who will see us through this transition period. The Board’s aim is to have a new permanent Chair in place before the start of next season,” said Masters.
