Leicester City thrashed Newcastle United 4-0 in the English Premier League on Sunday. As Belgium midfielder Youri Tielemans scored twice, among other Premier League football news, Leicester destroyed Newcastle 4-0 yesterday, at home.

With this convincing home victory, Leicester climbed to eighth place in the Premier League standings. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle are in 19th place, only keeping off the bottom thanks to Norwich City’s worse goal difference.

Leicester City found the net on either side of halftime. The home side scored through a penalty that Youri Tielemans converted successfully and a tap-in from Zambian forward Patson Daka.

And then, Tielemans and James Maddison scored one late goal each to condemn Newcastle to a 4-0 loss. All the while, the hosts conceded no goals and thus, their guests’ eighth defeat of the season was brutal.

Without much action of note before, Newcastle defender Jamaal Lascelles tripped Maddison shortly before the break, which warranted a penalty.

And Tielemans scored from the penalty spot to give Leicester City a 1-0 home lead, going into the half time.

Leicester doubled their lead in the 57th minute when James Maddison found Harvey Barnes, who ran through on goal. And he laid the ball off for Patson Daka to score.

On the other hand, Newcastle barely threatened Kasper Schmeichel’s goal. In fact, the closest they came to scoring was through Leicester defender Timothy Castagne when he overhit a back pass. To save this pass from becoming an own goal, Kasper Peter Schmeichel had to race back to the goalpost. And the Danish keeper barely, but fortunately, cleared the ball off the line.

Meanwhile, Tielemans scored his second goal late on, hitting the ball into the roof of the net from close range.

And the finally, Maddison put a gloss on the Leicester score line with his fourth league goal of the season.
