Premier League Football News – Leeds Stole a Win from Brentford

Leeds United’s returning striker Patrick Bamford struck in added time as they snatched a 2-2 Premier League draw against Brentford. Among other Premier League football news, Leeds stole a win from Brentford by drawing 2-2 at the very last minute. So, each side came away with only one point in this high-intensity match at Elland Road last night, on Sunday.

So, Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds fumbled a second consecutive league win this week following Tuesday’s 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Meanwhile Brentford, who began the season well after winning promotion, missed out on a second victory in eight league games.

Brentford’s Sergi Canos and Shandon Baptiste scored to give the visitors a 1-2 lead after Leeds’ Tyler Roberts’ initial opener.

Patrick Bamford then made his return from an ankle injury, and in style – with his first Leeds goal since September. The substitute fired the ball into the net off the crossbar following a corner to equalize 2-2 for the hosts.

Early in the game, at 27 minutes, Leeds striker Tyler Roberts netted his first of the campaign. He responded to Raphinha’s whipped cross with a sliding finish leaving Alvaro Fernandez unable to save at the Brentford goalpost.

In retaliation, Brentford midfielder Baptiste opened his account for the club with a controlled strike.

Canos collected a pass from Bryan Mbeumo and smashed the ball past Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier in the 61st minute.

Meanwhile, Leeds lost captain Liam Cooper to a hamstring injury in the 15th minute. And Kalvin Phillips also needed a substitute after sustaining a calf problem after the break.

But even as the hosts struggled to cope with their absence, they did manage to equalize 2-2 via substitute Bamford.
