Paris Saint-Germain Forward on Losing to Manchester United in Champions League

Ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Istanbul Basaksehir, Kylian Mbappe believes Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League loss to Manchester United is meaningless, although he admits fans will demand more.

“Champions League matches, you always have to win,” he told the club’s website. “Even if we had beaten Man United, it would still have the same importance.”

On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain hopes to kick-start its European campaign, but Mbappe seems comfortable.

But, in Group H, PSG is already playing catch-up and heading to the Turkish champions on Wednesday to kick off their campaign.

So, Mbappe agrees that this time around, fans will want to see PSG succeed, but he doesn’t believe that the United loss raises the amount of pressure on the team:

“We must win. When you play here [at PSG], you always have to win. So, for sure, having lost, people will expect more from us, but the pressure will be the same.

“There’s always pressure when you play and that won’t change against Istanbul.”
