Former Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. has officially become a Manchester United player, as the club’s press office reported today. So, the past days of mania over Ronaldo returning to Old Trafford after 12 years have led to this official football news – Manchester United sign Ronaldo formally.
The 36-year-old star striker has signed a two-year contract running until 2023 with an option to extend for a further year.
Previous reports revealed that United will pay 15 million euros for the Portuguese with 8 million euros in add-ons.
Now, Juventus have confirmed that United will pay them a fee of €15m (£13/$18m) over the course of five years. This is to seal the Portugal star’s return to the Premier League.
They will also have to pay up to €8m (£7m/$9m) in bonuses “upon achievement of specific performance objectives”.
So, the reports a few days back are seemingly accurate in their estimations.
The deal will appear as a €14m (£12m/$17m) loss for the Turin side in the 2020-21 financial year, United reported.
