Joan Laporta, Barcelona’s new president, has revealed his plans for team striker Lionel Messi.
The manager wants to persuade the Argentine to stay at the club.
And Laporta intends to offer the player a contract with a pay cut, with the agreement being for life.
It is believed that such a term of agreement, that is, agreeing to a pay cut, would reduce the financial loss Messi would suffer.
Also, Laporta believes that Messi’s pay cut will set an example for the rest of the club’s players too.
The Argentine’s current contract with the club expires in the summer.
And Laporta and Messi may soon meet to discuss the situation, writes Mundo Deportivo.
The 33-year-old forward has played 25 La Liga games this season, scoring 21 goals and making 7 assists.
