Paris Saint-Germain newcomer Lionel Messi has handed the French an untimely injury scare. Very worryingly, the Ligue 1 giants reveal that the Argentine forward has undergone a scan on a knee problem. So, it is very likely that Messi will miss the Metz game due to a knee problem, exacerbating PSG’s problems.
The six-time Ballon d’Or winner surprisingly received a call back to the bench in his latest appearance against Lyon. PSG barely won 2-1 win over Lyon, but Messi, whom Achraf Hakimi replaced, didn’t score his debut goal (football news).
Later, after the match, Mauricio Pochettino had to fend off plenty of questions about why he withdrew the all-time great.

Messi Will Miss the Metz Game Due to a Knee Problem
Lionel Messi could miss out on Wednesday Ligue 1 seventh round game vs Metz.
This is because PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino subbed the striker off in the 76th minute during the Lyon clash (2-1).
As the club’s press office have now confirmed, then, the Argentine took a knock to his left knee.
Messi underwent MRI this morning which confirmed the signs of bruising the bone. Now, a follow-up examination will be carried out in 48 hours.
But all this can only mean Lionel Messi is very unlikely to show up on the field tomorrow against Metz.
In a fitness update on the club’s official website, PSG said: “Lionel Messi, who took a knock to his left knee against Lyon, underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning which confirmed signs of bruising of the bone.
“A follow-up examination will be carried out in 48 hours.”
So, with Messi resting to prevent any further damage, he will not figure in a meeting with Metz on Wednesday.
