Manchester City will host Paris Saint-Germain at the Etihad for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final. With both teams vying to play the final in Istanbul, read some Man City vs PSG predictions for Tuesday night.
Indian fans can watch the match live at 12:30 AM tonight.
Pep Guardiola’s side won 2-1 in the first leg at the Parc des Princes last week.
Two second-half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez equalized and reserved an early header from Marquinhos.
Both teams improved their odds of domestic success over the weekend. Man City beat Crystal Palace 2-0 and PSG defeated Lens 2-1 to keep their title aspirations alive.
Manchester City has a fully healthy team to choose from for when PSG will visit.
For Saturday’s 2-0 win at Crystal Palace, Pep Guardiola made sweeping changes to the XI that faced PSG last week.
Just two players from the starting line-up at Selhurst Park last week – Ederson and Rodri – can start again.
So, Guardiola’s only change in the side that ended the 2-1 first-leg win may come if Oleksandr Zinchenko is introduced. Zinchenko has inspired off the bench as a substitue, and time has come for him to assume a starting role.
Kevin De Bruyne will start as a false nine.
However, Ferran Torres and Sergio Aguero both scored in London and will both be vying for a starting spot.
Manchester City possible starting lineup:
Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Zinchenko; Rodri, Gundogan, Silva; Mahrez, De Bruyne, Foden
Mauricio Pochettino may start with Kylian Mbappe, though he missed the 2-1 victory over Lens due to a calf problem.
The visitors are worried about the possible absence of talisman Mbappe.
If Mbappe is ruled out due to this injury scare, Mauro Icardi could take his place in the starting lineup.
Or else, Pochettino could still call up Julian Draxler. In this case, Neymar, who scored and assisted on Saturday, would spearhead the PSG attack.
Meanwhile, Idrissa Gueye is suspended for PSG after his red card in Paris last week. The French have ruled out Juan Bernat too.
Ander Herrera and Danilo Pereira are vying for a spot alongside Leandro Paredes at the base of the midfield.
Paris Saint-Germain possible starting lineup:
Navas; Florenzi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Bakker; Paredes, Herrera; Di Maria, Verratti, Neymar; Mbappe
Man City vs PSG Predictions
- Last week, Manchester City came from behind to win the first leg 2-1 in Paris, thanks to two second-half goals.
- However, City’s most recent game at the Etihad Stadium ended in a 2-1 loss to Leeds. So now, two of their three home defeats this season have occurred in the last five games at the Etihad.
- Meanwhile, playing at home where City beat them, PSG bounced back from their first-leg defeat by winning 2-1 over Lens.
- The Parisian squad has been outstanding on the road, winning all ten of their away games since February. The scores in eight of those victories were enough to see them pass City and into the Champions League final.
City could be tempted to sit back and defend their advantage over PSG, because even a 1-0 loss is immaterial. It will not prevent Guardiola’s side from reaching the final, but the host manager would not tolerate such a performance.
The predicted return of Mbappe would be a big boost to PSG’s goal-scoring exploits.
On the other hand, a well-rested attacking contingent on City’s end can get heavy on any defense in the game.
So, finally, we expect a close affair to end in a tie and City will advance to Istanbul.
