According to a source, Alisson Becker and Fabinho are unlikely to start Liverpool’s Premier League match against Watford on Saturday. As Raphael Varane misses Manchester United-Leicester City in similar football news, Liverpool’s Alisson and Fabinho will remain absent against Watford.
Both players, the goalkeeper and the midfielder, are part of Tite’s team for the World Cup qualifiers in October. The CONMEBOL qualifiers will culminate in Brazil’s home match against Uruguay in the early hours of Friday morning UK time.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool faces Watford at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday in game week eight of the Premier League season.
The Liverpool manager has previously expressed his displeasure with such scheduling, and now, as it so happens, he was right.
Liverpool’s Alisson and Fabinho Will Remain Absent against Watford
According to The Telegraph, flying back and being ready to play on Saturday afternoon is “impractical” for Alisson and Fabinho.
So, Klopp has to resign himself to being without his Brazilian combo this weekend.
The Reds boss is also concerned about Diogo Jota’s fitness after he left the Portugal camp with a muscle complaint.
But Klopp has at least enjoyed a timely injury boost in the form of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who might face Watford.
Liverpool is now in second place in the Premier League table. And next, they will play Watford in Claudio Ranieri’s first game in command of the Hornets.
