Liverpool is unaware of any summer transfer deal that may have happened between Barcelona and Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.
The Liverpool Echo reports that the club is unaware of any such deal, which is because Wijnaldum has not mentioned it to anybody at the club.
However, it doesn’t necessarily mean much in this case. Wijnaldum is in the last six months of his deal, anyway.
He is under no pressure to inform anyone of his negotiations with other clubs.
So, he is free to negotiate with Barcelona without Liverpool’s knowledge.
Indeed, the 30-year-old has already signed a pre-contract with Barcelona, who have been chasing him for the past 12 months.
He has thus opted to leave Anfield when his deal expires this summer, according to the news on Sunday.
