Jose Mourinho Wants to Bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma – Christian Vieri

Manchester United are reportedly among the favourites to sign Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. However, this blockbuster return to Old Trafford in the summer may not happen because of a former United manager. ‘Jose Mourinho wants to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma’ – Christian Vieri, himself a former Juventus star, says.

Ronaldo has one year remaining on his contract at Juventus. And while some latest reports firmly claim he’s staying, others have suggested that the superstar could leave Juventus this summer.

As such, strong links have emerged between Ronaldo and his former club, Man Utd.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, former United teammate of CR7 and current United manager, is open to bringing Ronaldo back to United.

Not many clubs in world football can afford Ronaldo’s astronomical wages, but United are one of the few who can.

Mourinho May Block Ronaldo’s Return to United

Now however, it seems that Jose Mourinho is keen to trump Manchester United to the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo. Mourinho and Ronaldo have worked together at Real Madrid, previously.

Speaking to BOBO TV via Marca (h/t The Sun), former Italian international Christian Vieri has revealed the shocking development.

Per Vieri, Mourinho would have Ronaldo stay put in Italy, only moving from Juventus to Roma, where he’s now coach.

The former United/Tottenham boss has taken over as the new manager of AS Roma just before the 2021/22 campaign.

Vieri believes Mourinho will do everything he can to bring Ronaldo to Roma, instead of Manchester United, this summer.

“Jose Mourinho wants to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Roma,” Christian Vieri said on Bobo TV.

Mourinho’s Interest in Ronaldo? – Nonsense

Despite Vieri’s claim, whether or not Roma would be able to meet Ronaldo’s wage demands remains to be seen.

Moreover, former Italty international Antonio Cassano dismissed Vieri’s words as “nonsense”.

“Ronaldo to Roma? That’s nonsense,” he said. “Mourinho didn’t get on well with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid. How can you think he’s going to go to Roma?

Cassano added: “I don’t know if it’s because they have the same agent, Jorge Mendes, or a Portuguese sporting director, but how can you think Cristiano’s going to Roma?”
