Everton will be playing against Southampton in their Premier League 2021-22 season opener without five players, due to COVID-19 protocols. Thus, due to coronavirus, James Rodriguez and four other Everton players will isolate instead of playing in football fixtures today.
Among other news in football live today, James Rodriguez is one of five Everton players who will miss facing Southampton.
They will, in other words, miss their Everton’s first Premier League game of the season due to a self-imposed exile.
James Rodriguez and Four Other Everton Players Will Isolate
Toffees manager Rafael Benitez confirmed that attacking midfielder James is one of the players who will miss Saturday’s game.
Rodriguez is among the five players who will not play against Southampton at Goodison Park due to coronavirus protocols.
The likeliest reason behind this may be that these five players came in contact with a COVID-positive person or people. In other words, they stand the risk to being already infected, directly or indirectly.
The former Liverpool manager said according to the official club website: “We have some players who are in isolation and we have to manage that.
“We have to be very careful, and some players have to be at home. James is one of them.
“I will not name too many players because I think it is better not to do it.”
