Football Transfers – City Target Haaland, and Haller May Replace Him
The Times claims that the Norwegian’s agent Mino Raiola will hold talks with the English side in January. These talks will go over the potential move for 21-year-old Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland next summer.
Haaland has scored 68 goals in 68 matches in all competitions for the club since joining them back in 2020.
The striker’s contract, which runs until 2024, contains a 75 million euros release clause which comes into effect in 2022.
Reports say that the Norwegian international has a verbal agreement with the board to leave in the summer of 2022.
And now, rumours are churning that Manchester City are vetting Haaland because they are in much need of a striker.
They were close to securing Cristiano Ronaldo, after Jack Grealish, this summer, before CR7 moved to Manchester United (football news).
But the German side are still hoping to keep the 21-year-old at the club.
Nonetheless, if they fail to do so, it is necessary to find a proper replacement.
And Borussia Dortmund are indeed looking for an alternative in case their star striker Erling Haaland decides to change clubs.
The Bild journalist Sven Westerschulze claims that Dortmund’s favorite to replace the Norwegianm thus far, is Ajax’s striker Sebastien Haller.
The 27-year-old Frenchman is well-suited to take on the role because he already has a Bundesliga background.
He represented Eintracht between 2017 and 2019, scoring 24 goals and providing 13 assists in 60 appearances for the club.
